What is Christmas really about? Traditions? Family? These are all good things, but Christmas is firstly about Jesus. So, how do we keep Christ as the center of Christmas and not let it be about stuff?
Before there was a Village Church there was a Celebrate Recovery. We came to this community knowing that there were hurts, habits and hang ups that God wanted to heal. Over the years this ministry has grown and thousands have been impacted by the freedom found in Christ-centered recovery.
Today, we offer adult Celebrate Recovery, Celebration Place for kids and The Landing (Celebrate Recovery for teens) as part of this ministry. Every day of the week CR leaders are teaching, meeting, mentoring and praying to help others find healing.
We never ask those in recovery for money so 100% of the support needed to operate this ministry is provided by The Village Church.
We think this money is well spent knowing that generations are that are being changed by the work we do through Celebrate Recovery.
Sixteen years ago Joshua’s Place started in a small house on Pike Street here in South Lebanon with ten volunteers serving fifteen families. Today, Joshua’s Place has over 400 volunteers, serving in five school districts with the support of over
thirty churches!
While this ministry is impacting families all over our region, our facility is the center of the work in this community. South Lebanon families benefit from our Food Cooperative, weekend food programs, Care Closets, tutoring, Summer
Camps and many other outreaches.
Joshua’s Place does not accept any support that limits our Christian witness and depends solely on the generosity of Christians and churches in every community it serves.
In the heart of Guatemala City exists the largest urban ghetto in Central America, an area called La Limonada. Amid the poverty, hunger and gang violence are five schools founded by Tita Evertz and her organization Vidas Plenas. Each day hundreds of children are fed, educated and loved by the teachers in these academies.
The Village Church has supported the work of Vidas Plenas since our beginning and dozens of Village attenders have traveled to Guatemala to serve in La Limonada alongside Tita’s team.
The money we give helps care for the five school buildings, support the teachers and purchase food for the students.
Pray and decide what percentage of Christmas spending you’ll give.
Get your family involved and share the vision of the Christmas Conspiracy.
Spend less . . . make Christmas this year more about people and God and less about about stuff.
Give more . . . bring your Christmas offering on Sunday, December 15.
